My Oily Journey
with Doterra essential Oils
I first started using essential oils in the late 1980's. Yip that long ago! I began using them for my children, myself and my family, then extended them for my clients. We created blends to help with digestion, to keep ratty teenagers under control, and we used them to calm and soothe emotions when people were hurting.
Being the eco warrior I was back then, I used essential oils to clean the house. I had exceptionally sensitive skin and was prone to eczema, so I created a balm from an old Victorian cold cream recipe I had found using beeswax, sweet almond oil, and pure essential oils. These made an amazing balm, and depending on what essential oils you used, as to what areas you would use them in.
While creating these recipes, I discovered how wonderful this blend was, healing the eczema on my hands. The man next to me, was a printer and had lots of cuts on his hands which would get infected. And once he started using the lavender balm, the cuts began to heal a lot faster. His wife was very impressed!
By changing some of the ingredients used in the lavender blend, the body builders at the gym said using it on their strained muscles, helped reduce healing time by a third. They were ecstatic!
A retiree who worked out at the gym, phoned me crying because she had run out of her lavender blend. She had a hip replacement and found the lavender blend made it easier for her to get in and out of her campervan. They were going away and she needed more, she couldn't live without it.
Moving forward to today, my oily journey has connected me with the pure essential oils of Doterra. When I hold these bottles of pure essential oils in my hand, I can feel the pure essence within them. To me, they are little bottles of magic.
With these new oils, I have extended my oily repertoire, to encompass not only using them in a diffuser or making balms, but to making beautiful scrubs for the face, hands and body, creating roller balls to help with easing pain and inflammation in the body, as well as balancing Chakras and soothing moods.

Makeup Brush Cleanser
Are your makeup brushes in need of some deep cleaning? This makeup brush cleanser is super easy and only requires three simple ingredients.
2 tablespoons doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil
5 drops Melaleuca Oil
5 drops Grapefruit Oil
Add Fractionated Coconut Oil and essential oils into a small bowl.
Swirl your makeup brush in the Fractionated Coconut Oil for 30 seconds, or until you see the makeup stored in your brush start to come out.
Rub in a circular motion on the palm of hand to help get the makeup out.
Rinse the brush under warm water. Gently squeeze brush bristles until clean, and the water runs clear. Note: Make sure to point the bristles down when running under water. Direct water contact may loosen the glue where the bristles are attach and shorten the life of your brushes.
Let your newly cleaned makeup brushes dry on a towel for four hours, or until dry. Repeat once a month, or as needed.
Pour concentrated cleaner into a 10ml roller ball, so that you can rub
it directly onto stains. Great to have in your hand bag if you have little
kiddies who like to share their food with their clothing!
It stops the stain setting in the fabric, which means you can put it
straight in the wash when you get home... The clothing, not the child!
Cut It Down To Size
A lot of product can still be trapped in the bottom of these
tubes, but you are unable to squeeze it out. By cutting the
tube open, and scooping it out, you can be on your merry
way without wasting a drop!
If you put the top part of the tube back, it seals the air in,
meaning that your products won't dry out.
This is one of my all-time favourites and works so well on everyone. Use on your pulse points, neck and higher heart chakra.
Add to a 10ml rollerball:
14 drops lavender
8 drops wild orange
8 drops Peppermint
Top with Fractionated Coconut Oil
For the ease of pain and discomfort
4 drops Frankincense
4 drops Copaiba
2 drops Ginger
1 tsp Fractionated Coconut Oil
You can put this into a rollerball or just mix in a small
dish. Layer with Ice Blue Rub.
If Ginger is too hot, try lemongrass.
For further use of Ice Blue Essential Oil
In roller ball with fractionated coconut oil
On temples for head ache
In a roller ball with turmeric, Copaiba and FCO
Whoever said Sugar and Salt were bad for you, hadn’t tried our face, hand and body scrubs.
Why pay a lot of money when you have your very own beauty counter at home.
These three scrubs are delicious to use, to the point you could feel compelled to eat them. They leave your skin feeling "Oh so soft" and your body smelling “Oh so good”. They are also easy to make and easy on the pocket.
Brown Sugar Face Scrub
1 cup of brown sugar
½ cup of coconut oil
5 drops of Ylang Ylang
5 drops of Frankincense
10 drops of Lavender
1 small mouthed glass jar
Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight jar. I
only use about ¼ of a teaspoon with this, it is beautiful.
1 cup Himalyan Fine Pink Salt
3 tablespoons coconut oil
20 drops grapefruit
2 drops peppermint
Mix all together and store in an airtight container. Rub all over your
body to cleanse and exfoliate, then rinse off. Store in a plain glass jar
and keep in a dark place.
Grapefruit can be applied neat with no dilution when applied topically. Apply directly on area of concern or to reflex points. Because Grapefruit oil has many of the same uses as other citrus oils, it can be used in their place when immediate exposure to the sun is unavoidable. This is because Grapefruit oil does not cause as much photo sensitivity as the other citrus oils.
Citrus Bliss Hand Scrub
5 tablespoons of Himalayan Fine Pink Salt
2 tablespoons of FCO
20 drops Citrus Bliss
Add all ingredients in a bowl or glass measuring jug. Stir to combine.
Place scrub in a 100 ml Amber Pot or store in a plain glass jar and
keep in a dark place…I have mine in the vanity cupboard under the
sink. You can use a combination of citrus oils or Lavender and
Peppermint if you wanted to.
Citrus Bliss is a combination of Wild Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Bergamot, Tangerine, Clemintine and Vanilla.
Citrus Bliss therefore can be photo sensitive. This is why it is good to ensure you do not have them on your skin when you go out in the sun.
